Who’s playin’?

The Kooters are a young band that re-interpret the psychedelic vibe mixed with a fresh indie touch and a pure youthful energy. The 4 young musicians provide psyched gigs with a lush atmosphere, accessible for dreamers, erratics and other more jittery folk.

Antifragile is a five pieced Post/Math-Rock band out of Luxembourg, founded in 2013. Their songs are a combine of mellow, warm and atmospheric sounds, eventually broken by energetic, unexpected parts. The band tries to sound as authentic as possible, by composing their songs intuitively, playing what they feel like at that very moment. They started to play shows in 2014, and are, for instance, to be found in the line-ups of the Out Of The Crowd Festival, Food For Your Senses Festival, and Kehlen Rocks Festival of that season.

Start something, bring it to an end and then…? See what happens! And then? Live with the consequences. Residing in various European cities, music marks the crossroads of the band members’ lives. It’s the nexus holding them together.

Just like the expansion of the universe started some 14 billion years ago, so did Hotel Numero 25. There was this sudden bang in Act 1. 2011 was the year. It was yet another metamorphosis within this ever-changing organism. The evolutionary starting point was 2002, however. Writing “Fresh Trash” was like mankind discovering how to light a fire. “My Parents went to Eldorado an all I got was this lousy Cadillac” saw the boys building their empire. With “The Royal Show” Lord Cambelot called them forth to the Age of Enlightenment.

Is this the end of the line, then? No sense but nonsense? NO! Like our drunk uncle Will always used to say:”If Music be the food of love, play on.” Right on! There are no reservations for Hotel Numero 25. The band wants to create a place which everybody can join by merely bringing his own spirit. The so-called ‘shadowy guests’ personally create the breeding ground for the show. That’s why the band never knows what’s going to happen at the end of the last reggae song of the night.

The five members of FEET all met in an illegal underground rave; being pushed onto the street to participate in a 50 man brawl. Getting dragged into the havoc, George found himself fighting Ollie when suddenly both were dropped kicked by Joe. As the fuzz showed up everyone ran and hid, finding themselves in Joakim’s pad. The morning after they were woken up by the sound of Joakim’s roommate’s thunderous love making. The mystery lover emerged from the room with sweat dripping down his legendary chest. This is how we met Harry.

A year later the boys met a mysterious woman wrestling a goat with a flipflop and milk bottle. The goat was on equal ground taking blow after blow so the guys ran to her aid, yet the goat was too powerful. It took our money, shoes and dignity. The woman thanked us for our help and offered to manage us. This is how we met Tara.

2011: Jerem zeigt seinem Freund Sebastian ein paar Gitarrengriffe, erklärt ihm Akkorde, Harmonien und auch ein paar Tricks. Sebastian nimmt seine eigene Gitarre, probiert ein bisschen rum und aus den Akkorden entsteht fast wie von selbst eine Melodie, die beiden sofort unter die Haut geht. „Restless“ nennen sie den ersten Song, viele weitere folgen.
2013: Den beiden schließt sich Jannik an, der als Bassist zunächst mit seinem E-Bass und seinem enormen rhythmischen Gefühl die ideale Ergänzung der beiden Gitarren ist. Sie gehen zusammen aufs Goethe-Gymnasium in Bad Ems, lernen zusammen, feiern zusammen. In der 11. Klasse kommt Tobias neu auf die Schule – der ideale Pianist ist gefunden, der seine Klavierkünste weiter ausbaut und sich auch auf dem Akkordeon bald zuhause fühlt. Praktisch, denn das ist für die unplugged-live-Auftritte ideal. Der erste Auftritt, noch unter dem Namen „The Gathering“, auf dem Kleinkunstfestival in Nassau am 10. August 2013. Der Name muss geändert werden, weil es schon eine Band in England gibt, die so heißt. Wilde Diskussionen folgen, viel wird ausprobiert. Dann: Der Name ist da: Corona in the Pipebag. Intensives Googeln zeigt: dieser Name ist neu, einzigartig. Und er passt: Corona, das ist der leuchtende Lichtkranz um die Sonne, corona, das heißt auch „Krone“. Pipebag, das ist der Rucksack der Indianer in Amerika, in dem sie ihre Friedenspfeifen und weitere Utensilien aufbewahren. Das sind Assoziationen, die den vier Freunden gefallen. Ein Name, den man sich nicht sofort merkt. Den man aber auch nicht vergisst, wenn man erst den Zugang dazu gefunden hat!
2014: Corona in the Pipebag wird als „Newcomer-Band“ in der Region Rhein-Lahn gefeiert. Bei kleineren Festivals, in Kneipen, auf der Straße – ihre Musik kommt an. Besondere Auftritte genießen sie in der neuen Bad Emser Therme: vier junge Männer in weißen Bademänteln am Schwimmbecken-Rand. Sie sind die Gaststars der Emser Thermen-Nächte. Anfang des Jahres produzieren sie ihre erste EP in einem Luxemburger Tonstudio, die EP wird vorgestellt am 1. November 2014. Vorher noch das bisherige Highlight der Band-Karriere: Rockbuster, der Rheinland-Pfälzische Talentwettbewerb für junge Künstler. Über die Vorrunde in Lahnstein und die Zwischenrunde im Circus Maximus in Koblenz ziehen sie ins Finale ein und gewinnen am 18. Oktober 2014 schließlich den 1. Preis als beste Newcomerband des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz.
Musik
Leadsänger ist Sebastian mit seiner warmen, tiefen Gesangsstimme, Jerem als sichere und geniale zweite Stimme dazu. Kontrabass, Mundharmonika, Gitarren, Banjo und Mandoline, Piano oder Akkordeon und eine Base dazu – ideale Instrumentierung für ihren Musikstil: selbst kreierter Folk. Sprache: Englisch. Die Texte erzählen Geschichten aus dem Leben, sind emotional, wahr und ehrlich,
geprägt von Blues-Einflüssen. Sie lassen sich inspirieren von Mumford and Sons, von Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Johnny Cash und Eric Clapton. Mal leise, mal schnell und stampfend, mal einstimmig, dann wieder zwei-, drei-, vierstimmig – variantenreich.
Band
Die vier besten Freunde – 2014 alle 18 geworden – harmonieren nicht nur musikalisch hervorragend. Sie verbringen viel Zeit miteinander, proben viel, feiern auch viel. Verrückte
Nächte unterwegs, Straßenmusik in Amsterdam, Camping bei Rock am Ring und anderen Festivals. Im gemeinsamen Urlaub entstehen neue Songs, sie sprühen vor Ideen und probieren begeistert neue Rhythmen und Melodien.

AMFA is a young luxembourgish DJ-Duo composed of Alex Magar and Fabien Adriolo. As members of our school community, they have been playing nearly every school gig and are acknowledged members of the luxembourgish DJ scene, playing in clubs all around the country.
